A Frozen Frenzy

Tomorrow it will be one year exactly since the critically acclaimed "Frozen" came to theaters. This film has inspired many across the country and has provided Disney with a smashing hit. Do you want a Frozen sleeping bag? Or how about a fuzzy robe? Don't worry, they have come up with everything. You can even purchase your very own Elsa dress. That way, you can show off your magical beauty in front of your friends (and possibly build a snowman.)
You can buy one at mallatts.com for a whopping fifty dollars, or you can be a sensible person and spend a reasonable one-hundred and fifty dollars at DHgate.com (Links at bottom of article) Please note: sarcasm was used in the previous sentence. Although, the two dresses look completely different. (Which probably explains the difference in price range.) But, thanks to McButter Photography, I am able to show you a beautiful and affordable Elsa dress that can be purchased at T.J. Maxx.

Many have asked the question "What makes this movie so good?" Perhaps it was because Disney finally produced another musical (with catchy music), or Elsa's magical powers. Don't forget the love that saved the kingdom of Arendelle from a never-ending winter. However, many may not realize that it might just be the snow that caused this movie to go viral.
Most of the Disney animated movies haven't had a winter theme. Of course, there was "Snow White" but that was different. There was also Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Rapunzel (a.k.a. Tangled), and so on. There seems to be a pattern. Elsa, (and Anna I suppose) are Disney princesses that they created, and didn't take from an ancient fairy tale, or fable, (that we know of.) After realizing that the success of "Frozen" was due to its wintry association, I decided to analyze the characters of the movie.

Elsa: Elsa is a young queen. She has just finished her coronation, and must entertain the public with a feast and dancing. Except there is one slight problem. It just so happens that she has magical powers, and she doesn't know how to use them. She wears gloves because she believes that they help her control her powers. Elsa must talk to her sister Anna, whom she hasn't spoken with since they were children.

Anna: Anna is a young, spirited, and naive princess. Her older sister Elsa is the newly crowned queen of Arendelle. Anna yearns for a relationship with her sister because she remembers the fun they had growing up. It is after she tries marrying a man she just met, that Anna learns of Elsa's true powers.

Hans: A handsome and mysterious prince is showing an immediate interest in you. Who wouldn't be flattered? Hans is from the Southern Isles, and he is thirteenth in his line of succession. (That is a lot of older siblings.)  He woos Anna for a couple of hours after meeting her, and then asks her to marry him. Quite a proposal, if I do say so! This marriage between strangers is what coaxes Elsa to reveal her magical abilities.

Olaf: Oh Olaf.... what would we do without you? Olaf is a magical snowman (created by Elsa) and he is extremely sociable. He provides humor to the most intense and nail-biting moments of the movie. Often times, you may find yourself quoting his witty and comical lines.

Kristoff: A man who makes his living from ice finds himself as a guide for the princess of Arendelle. That's right; Anna is now trying to save Arendelle from a never-ending winter and she has asked Kristoff to help her. They embark on a journey that may end up changing their lives.

Sven: Sven is Kristoff's reindeer. Sven and Kristoff have a special connection, and sometimes that connection can become a problem. On the other hand, Sven is continuously trying to eat Olaf's nose, (because what reindeer doesn't like carrots?)

After watching these lovely characters, we each have our favorite. Whether you root for Anna and her love for her sister, or you like Olaf and his jokes, we each have our own. We all have a character we feel most connected with. "Frozen" is a movie that Disney has used to inspire others. This princess film is different from the others. There is no prince charming coming to the rescue, it is a sisterly love that ends up saving the day.

We all know that a wintry theme, humor, and magic are what make "Frozen" interesting, but is it not the music that ties it all together? Nowadays, the "Circle of Life" from those days on the savannah, is no longer recognized by children. When you do ask a youngster to sing, you will most likely end up hearing one of the following: "Let It Go", "Do You Want to Build a Snowman?", "For the First Time in Forever", "Fixer Upper", "Love is an Open Door",  "In Summer", and so on so forth. These were not the only songs a part of the music of Frozen. Christophe Beck made a huge orchestral score for the other parts of the film. You may not realize it, but most of the emotions you feel come from the music within the movie.

We have all heard of Edward vs. Jacob, and Peeta vs. Gale, but did you hear about Kristoff vs. Hans?

Oh....hey there Hanslaf...

.... and make sure you don't forget.... masculine Elsa.

As you can see, there are some very interesting, and queerly devoted fans out there. No matter if they draw a picture, or sing a song, each fan has their own way of showing their support. Although some of us may not be extremely attached to "Frozen" I think that everyone lets a few words slip at times.
Thank you so much for reading! (We only have each other, its just you and me...) Oh... look... See? Its okay to enjoy the magic of Disney! I hope you enjoyed this! Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, and enjoy your time with family!
